Full Privacy Policy

  1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy is meant to help you understand what personal information we collect and process using the official iSee Life App, and the rights you have in connection with your personal information collected by the Service.

In this Privacy Policy when we refer to "Service", "we", "us" or "our" we are referring to iSee Life App, the “Data Controller” for this Service.

The Data Controller is responsible for determining the processing purposes of your personal data, and the content and related services or features which are made available to you from using this Service.

  2. What is the purpose of this Service?

The purpose of this Service is to provide users of the iSee Life App with the knowledge, tools, and inspiration to help them take care of their eyesight and possibly recover from Myopic vision in a natural and simple way.

  3. Where do we collect personal data about you from?

We may collect personal data about you from the following sources:

    • Directly from you. This is information you have voluntarily provided whilst entering your personal details on the Service.
  4. What information do we collect and why?

We will only ever collect the information we need to enable us to undertake the specific information processing activities noted later in this section.

The information we collect and process may include, but is not limited to:

    • Non-personal information such as your device identifier, prescription details of the glasses you are using, time and duration for vision related activities. This information does not tell us anything about who you are or where you live. It simply allows us to monitor, improve and provide our service.
    • Personal information such as your name, email address, gender, age, country of origin, images of your glasses' prescription or profile photo and any other optional information you may choose to provide to us as part of your experience within the Service (e.g. text, image).

Should you decide to register we ask for the following information:

    • Email address and password – if you choose to create an account on the iSee Life App by using email and password authentication, we use this for any service related communication such as resetting your password or verifying your email address. We will not send you any marketing or third-party messages unless you have explicitly provided your consent for us to do so.

We store the password in a secure one-way encrypted system governed by Google INC. If you forget your password, you may request that it be reset via iSee Life App settings, and we will send an email to you with instructions on how to do so.

    • Information from Third-Party Services – the Service allows you to create an account and log in to use the Service through the following Third-party Services:
      • Apple ID
      • Google
      • Facebook

If you decide to register through or otherwise grant us access to a Third-Party Service, we may collect personal data that is already associated with your Third-Party Service's account, such as your name, your email address, your activities or your contact list associated with that account.

You may also have the option of sharing additional information with the Data Controller through your Third-Party Service's account. If you choose to provide such information and personal data, during registration or otherwise, you are giving the Data Controller permission to use, share, and store it in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy.

    • Pictures from your Device's camera and photo library - related to uploading any types of images via iSee Life App.
    • TrueDepth API technologies - The Service makes use of collected information using the device camera and the ARKit TrueDepth API technologies provided by Apple. TrueDepth API is used for Face Tracking in the iSee Life Vision Check tool, located in The Habitat / Dashboard page. The Service is only collecting the distance from the front-camera to the user's eyes. Purpose of collecting the data using the TrueDepth API is to allow users to keep track of the distance to blur and to build statistics over the longer term. The data is collected for informational purposes only, to help keep track of the eye care so users can have visual feedback on how their lifestyle is affecting their vision. The information collected by the TrueDepth API is stored on the user’s device and once a day is flushed into the Google Firebase Firestore database and removed from the device. Generally we do not store or process in any other way the data accessed via TrueDepth API. Data Controller reserves the right to share this information with third parties to improve the quality of the service. For more information about TrueDepth API technologies, you may visit https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208108.

Once registration either by Third-Party Service’s account or by using email and password authentication is complete, and you have verified your email (applicable only to authentication by email and password), you may access both the iSee Life and iSee Life Plus features.

As you use the App we might keep track of your activities to analyze the usage of App features and provide us with information we would use to improve service experience. This data is never shared with third parties unless requested by law and is used for our internal purposes only.

Your decision to disclose your personal information to us is entirely voluntary. If you do not provide the personal data necessary, or withdraw your consent for the processing of your personal data, you are not able to access or use the Service.

We comply with all legislative and regulatory information retention requirements and will securely and permanently delete your personal information when there is (a) no justification for its further retention, or (b) you have asked us to delete it.

  5. Children's Privacy

This Service, and any services available from it, are directed to users from the age of 12 with parental or guardian consent. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 12. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from anyone under the age of 12 without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.

If we need to rely on consent as a legal basis for processing your information and your country requires consent from a parent, we may require your parent's consent before we collect and use that information.

  6. User data rights

If you are based in the EU, under the General Data Protection Regulation you have several rights connected to the provision of your personal information to us from using the Service

    • The right of access

You have the right to obtain access to your personal information (if we are processing it), and certain other information such as the reasons why we are processing or storing it. This is so you are aware and can check that we are using your personal information in accordance with data protection legislation and your agreement.

    • The right to rectification

You are entitled to request that your personal information is promptly corrected if it is identified as being inaccurate or incomplete.

    • The right to erasure

This is also known as "the right to be forgotten" and, in simple terms, enables you to request the deletion or removal of your information under certain circumstances where there is no compelling reason for us to keep using it. This is not a general right to erasure; there are exceptions.

    • The right to restrict processing

You have rights to "block" or suppress further use of your personal information. When processing is restricted we can still store your information but may not be able to process it further. We maintain lists of people who have asked for further use of their personal information to be "blocked" to make sure the restriction is respected in future.

    • The right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint about the way we have handled or processed your personal data with your national data protection regulator.

    • The right to withdraw consent

If you have given your consent to anything we do with your personal data, you have the right to vary or withdraw your consent at any time (although if you do so, it does not mean that anything we have done with your personal data with your consent up to that point is unlawful). This includes your right to withdraw your consent to us using your personal data for marketing purposes.

We usually act on validated requests and provide the requested information or activity free of charge, but by law we are allowed to charge a reasonable fee to cover our administrative costs of providing the information for:

      • baseless or excessive/repeated requests, or
      • further copies of the same information.

Alternatively, there are reasons why we may be entitled to refuse to act on the request.

Please consider your request responsibly before submitting it. We will respond as soon as we can. Generally, this will be within one month from when we receive your validated request but, if the request is going to take longer to deal with, we will let you know.

To contact us please see Section 11 below. If we do not address your request or fail to provide you with a valid reason why we are unable to do so, you have the right to contact your national data protection regulator.
